Introduction

Welcome to the Highmark and Highmark Grider Settlement website.

This website is intended to provide information about two separate but overlapping cases: Love et al. v. Blue Cross & Blue Shield Association, et al., referred to as the “Love” case, and Grider v. Keystone Health Plan Central et al., referred to as the “Grider” case. A settlement of the claims against Highmark in the Love case was reached last fall. Physicians across the country were informed of that settlement and given an opportunity to file claims. That settlement was recently approved by a Federal Court in Miami.

In late March, Notices were sent to all Physicians who are believed to be Class Members in the Grider case. Many of these Physicians were also members of the class in the Love case. The Grider Notice was designed to inform Physicians about the proposed settlement in the Grider case. The Grider settlement covers a certified class of Physicians who provided covered services to members of Keystone Health Plan Central’s health plans. The Grider Notice sent in late March is to inform members of that class that in addition to whatever money they may have received or been eligible to receive in the Love Settlement, they may also have the right to receive additional money as a result of the settlement agreement reached in the Grider Case.

As used on this website, capitalized terms have the meaning ascribed to them in the Settlement Agreement.

To qualify for a settlement payment, you must complete the Claim Form, sign the form, and have it POSTMARKED BY NO LATER THAN MAY 12, 2008 to:

As described more fully in the Question and Answer (Q & A) section of this website, Class Members were mailed a Notice explaining their rights under the Settlement as well as a Claim Form and Claim Form Instructions on how to fill out the Form. This website includes those mailed documents sent to Class Members. Accordingly, Class Members should check for updates to this website to ensure that they have received all relevant instructions.
